Donor Resources

Philanthropy moves the university to new levels of distinction – from good to great, from excellent to extraordinary – every day. Private giving preserves the great tradition of academic inquiry for which UCLA is known, and spurs the creation of new knowledge that moves society forward.

Your participation in this endeavor is welcome and it is vital to our success.

However if you want to get involved, whatever questions you might have, and whichever way you wish to connect with the university - The UCLA Foundation is here to help. Whether you are an institutional donor or an individual supporter, a longtime patron or first-time giver, we strive to anticipate your needs, answer your questions, and provide you with the resources to direct and inspire your philanthropy.

The Board of Directors of the UCLA Foundation approved a spending rate of 4.25% for FY24–25, which maintains the current spending rate from last year.

This stated spending rate is applied to the average unit value of the trailing 12 quarters (one quarter lagged) of the Endowed Investment Pool in order to determine the amount to be distributed each quarter.

Because a smoothing formula is utilized to calculate the quarterly distributions, one cannot infer if this year's distributions will increase, decrease or remain the same relative to last year's solely based upon whether the approved spending rate increased, decreased or remained the same. To help fundholders forecast their expected distributions for FY24–25, the Foundation forecasts a per share distribution of $1.66 to fundholders for the coming fiscal year.

The Board of Directors considers the following in determining the spending rate for FY24–25:
• Preserve the endowment corpus in real terms (i.e. adjusted for inflation)
• Provide a current source of funding for fundholders
• Provide year-to-year budget stability for fundholders
• Meet the intergenerational needs of current and future beneficiaries of the endowment
